October 31 thru November 2 - American Miniature Horse Show

October 31-Nov 2 - American Miniature Horse Show- At just 34 inches tall, the Miniature Horse has been bred throughout the centuries for its diminutive size. The American Miniature Horse Registry has three Divisions; Division A is 34 inches and under, Division B is 34-38 and Division C is the Shetland Ponies 38-46 inches tall. November 2 - Tall Tales: Giraffes
Meet Fossil Rim’s gentle giants in an up close encounter! Discover the amazing adaptations that these animals have and participate in fun giraffe-related activities. Plus we’ll go on a short guided tour to visit the giraffes! Recommended for ages 5-9. Meets at the Eco Center. Cost is $10 per person. 10% discount for members. November 8 - Dale McPherson Memorial Fiddle Contest – 9th Annual Dale McPherson Memorial Fiddle Contest. This is an ole time Fiddlers contest for ages 4 thru 104.  Prize money will be given to all divisions of entry.  This is normally the last contest of the year.  Sanctioned by Texas Old Time Fiddlers Association.  In Memory of Dale McPherson who was a break down fiddle player. November 14 - Discovery after Dark - Come enjoy the nocturnal beauty of Fossil Rim, watch the stars, and listen to the night-time sounds, as we venture out into the park at dark. We’ll start with an interactive learning experience where you can discover nocturnal animal adaptations, how animals use the night sky, Native American stories, and more. Then, using spotlights and the light of the full moon, we’ll go on a guided after-dark adventure that will feature both the exotic and native nocturnal wildlife at Fossil Rim and that will give you the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy the night. Meets at the Eco Center. $45 per person — includes admission to the Scenic Wildlife Drive which can be used the day of Discovery after Dark or the morning after (before 10:00am). Members receive a 10% discount. Recommended for ages 5 to adult. Reservations are required, and it is recommended that reservations be made at least 3 days in advance. November 15 - Girls' Night Out - Shops in Historic Downtown Glen Rose will be open late with refreshments, specials and entertainment. Third Saturday of every month beginning at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

November 15 - Family Fun Day: "America Recycles Day" - There will be tons of activities at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center for children and adults alike and lots of ways to learn how you can make the Earth a greener place to live. Fossil Rim is a member of the Recycling Alliance of Texas and is in the process of building up a local recycling program. There will be booths to show you what to make out of some of your recycled materials, how to compost, the facts on energy usage, and much, much more. More details to be announced. November 21 - "Stargazer Paul" Derrick Astronomy Event - For homeschoolers and others at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Mr. Derrick returns with a Power Point program entitled "Constellations of Fall," followed by a laser pointer "Sky Tour," and Telescope Viewing using Mr. Derrick's 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope.

November 29 - Christmas Tree Lighting - The Christmas tree on the Courthouse Square will come to life in an array of lights at 6 p.m.
